How to connect Cursor to your FTMO account
With TraderWAI, Cursor can read live charts, check your FTMO account and prepare orders with stop loss and take profit that you approve. Setup takes a few minutes.

Detailed guide: Cursor + MetaTrader 4 →cTrader
Click «Connect with cTrader» and sign in with your cTrader ID. You don't share your password with TraderWAI.
cTrader works on the free plan: unlimited charts and analysis, and 5 order executions per day.

3. Ask Cursor
Try one of these in a new chat:
- «Show me the gold H1 chart and tell me where the key levels are.»
- «What positions do I have open and how much am I risking?»
- «Prepare a buy limit on EUR/USD at yesterday's low with a 20-pip stop and a 2R target. I'll approve it.»
FTMO with your AI, step by step
FTMO gives each challenge, verification and FTMO Account its own MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 or cTrader login. You connect that login to TraderWAI and your AI works on it, with risk limits you set to match FTMO's objectives.
- Add https://mcp.traderwai.com to your AI as a custom connector (MCP server).
- Open FTMO Client Area → Credentials for the account you want: login, master password and server.
- In TraderWAI add it as MetaTrader (Trader plan) or, if the account is on cTrader, connect it with your cTrader ID (free plan).
- Set your risk limits (maximum daily loss, drawdown, risk per trade) a little tighter than FTMO's and keep orders on manual approval.
Example prompt for Cursor
«Check my FTMO account: equity, today's P/L and how far I am from my daily loss limit. Then look at EUR/USD on M15 and, only if there is a clean setup, prepare an order risking 0.25% with a stop loss. I'll approve it.»
Every order carries a stop loss, is checked against your risk limits and waits for your approval unless you turn on auto-execution for that symbol.
FTMO and TraderWAI: what to know
- FTMO offers MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and cTrader (plus TradingView). TraderWAI connects MT4, MT5 and cTrader accounts.
- Your login, password and server are in the FTMO Client Area under Credentials. Use the master password: the read-only (investor) password cannot place trades.
- cTrader accounts connect with your cTrader ID, and cTrader works on TraderWAI's free plan.
- FTMO offers a free trial that works like a simplified challenge.
- Read FTMO's trading rules before automating anything: FTMO lists forbidden practices, such as copying third-party trades, high-frequency trading and latency arbitrage. Your TraderWAI risk limits help you respect daily loss and drawdown limits, but the rules are FTMO's.
Respect the rules of your FTMO challenge
Breaking a rule can cost you the account. In TraderWAI you set risk limits that are checked before any order reaches your broker:
- Maximum daily loss and maximum position size.
- Maximum drawdown and maximum risk per trade (which requires a stop loss on the order).
- Daily limits on the number of orders.
- Orders always need your approval unless you allow auto-execution for a symbol.
What Cursor can do with your FTMO account
- Read live charts in any timeframe, with the indicators you ask for.
- Check your balance, open positions and pending orders.
- Backtest a strategy idea on historical data before risking anything.
- Prepare market, limit and stop orders with stop loss and take profit that you approve.
- Leave conditional orders that TraderWAI watches every minute.
- Respect your risk limits: maximum daily loss and drawdown, risk per trade, size and number of trades.
FTMO and Cursor: questions
Does FTMO allow trading with an AI?
That is FTMO's decision, not TraderWAI's: check FTMO's current rules for your account. FTMO lists forbidden practices such as copying third-party trades, high-frequency trading and latency arbitrage. With TraderWAI you can keep every order on manual approval and within your own limits.
Do I reconnect when I move to the next FTMO stage?
Yes. Each FTMO stage comes with its own login: when FTMO sends the new credentials, add that account in TraderWAI and remove the old one.
Is there an FTMO MCP server?
TraderWAI works as the MCP server for your FTMO account: add https://mcp.traderwai.com to Claude or ChatGPT and connect your FTMO MT4, MT5 or cTrader account. TraderWAI is independent and not affiliated with FTMO.
Which FTMO password do I use?
The master password from your FTMO Client Area → Credentials, with the server exactly as shown there. The investor password is read-only and cannot place orders.
