Best MCP servers for trading in 2026

MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers let an AI assistant like Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or Gemini read market data and, in some cases, place orders on your account. Here we compare the main options for traders by market, setup, order execution, risk controls and price.

Last reviewed: 2026-10-15. Information about other projects comes from their public documentation and may change.

What matters when choosing one

  • Markets and platforms: does it connect to the broker or prop firm you already use (MetaTrader, cTrader, TradeLocker, Binance…)?
  • Setup: hosted (you paste a URL into your AI) or local (you install and run it on your computer, often with Python).
  • Orders: data only, or can it place, modify and close orders?
  • Risk controls: limits the AI cannot skip (daily loss, drawdown, risk per trade, size).
  • Price and plan limits.

Each option in detail

TraderWAI

Hosted MCP server that connects your AI to the accounts you already have at brokers and prop firms. Live charts, analysis, backtests and orders with stop loss and take profit that you approve, plus risk limits checked before any order reaches your broker. Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini and other MCP clients, also from the phone.

Best for: Forex/CFD and crypto traders, including prop firm challenges, who want to use their AI without installing anything.

Alpaca MCP Server

Alpaca's official MCP server, open source. Trades US stocks, ETFs, options and crypto on your Alpaca account, with paper trading. You run it yourself.

Best for: US stock and options traders with an Alpaca account who are comfortable running Python.

MetaTrader 5 MCP (open source)

Several open-source projects connect an AI to MetaTrader 5 through the official Python package. They need the MT5 terminal running on a Windows machine and a local MCP setup.

Best for: Developers who want full control and keep a Windows PC or VPS on.

CCXT MCP (open source)

Open-source servers built on the CCXT library give access to many crypto exchanges with one interface.

Best for: Crypto developers working across many exchanges.

Binance MCP (community)

Community projects that wrap the Binance API. Quality and features vary; review the code before giving them keys.

Best for: Binance users who want a local, do-it-yourself setup.

Interactive Brokers / Tradier MCP (community)

Community MCP servers exist for Interactive Brokers, TradeStation and Tradier. They are mostly self-hosted and developer-oriented.

Best for: Developers with accounts at those brokers.

PitBridge (NinjaTrader 8)

Local MCP bridge for NinjaTrader 8 with risk limits the AI cannot change. Open core; according to its repository it is early stage and live trading is part of a paid tier.

Best for: Futures traders on NinjaTrader 8 who prefer a local setup.

Data-only servers

Servers such as Massive (formerly Polygon.io) or CoinMarketCap provide market data to your AI but do not place orders. They are useful for research, not for managing an account.

How to choose

  • You trade forex, indices or gold at a broker or prop firm with MetaTrader, cTrader or TradeLocker → a hosted server such as TraderWAI.
  • You trade US stocks or options at Alpaca → Alpaca's official server.
  • You are a developer and want everything on your own machine → an open-source local server for your platform.
  • You trade futures on NinjaTrader → a local bridge; hosted options for futures are still limited.

Questions

What is an MCP server for trading?

A service that gives an AI assistant tools to read market data and your account and, if it supports it, place orders. The AI decides when to use those tools based on what you ask.

Is it safe to let an AI place orders?

It depends on the controls. Look for servers that require your approval for each order and enforce risk limits outside the AI, so a wrong answer cannot exceed your daily loss or position size.

Do I need to install anything?

With hosted servers like TraderWAI you only paste a URL into your AI. Local servers require installing them (often Python) and keeping your computer or a VPS running.

Trading leveraged products such as CFDs, forex and futures carries a high risk of losing money. TraderWAI is a technology tool: it does not provide investment advice and does not manage funds. The AI's analyses and proposals are not recommendations; you decide every order.
