How to connect Cursor to Binance

With TraderWAI, Cursor's Agent gets live market data and your Binance account as MCP tools: get_ohlc for candles, get_quote, get_positions, get_broker_accounts, modify_position and more. Pull data into your project, prototype and backtest a strategy, check your positions and prepare orders with stop loss and take profit that you approve. One click or one entry in mcp.json, no API key.

Binance: The largest crypto exchange by volume.

Step 1: add TraderWAI to Cursor

Works in Cursor (Agent).

Add to Cursor
Cursor didn't open? Use the web install link →
  1. In Cursor go to Settings → Tools & MCP → «Add new MCP server».
  2. Or paste the configuration below into ~/.cursor/mcp.json.
  3. Click «Login» / «Connect» next to traderwai and sign in with Google.
  4. Use the chat in Agent mode and ask for what you need.

Or paste this into ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in your project):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "traderwai": {
      "url": "https://mcp.traderwai.com"
    }
  }
}

Step 2: connect your Binance account

In TraderWAI go to Settings → Broker accounts → Add account and choose Binance.

Create an API key in Binance with only «Spot & Margin trading» enabled (never withdrawals), ideally restricted to IP 187.7.69.7, and paste the key and secret.

Binance works on the free plan: unlimited charts and analysis, and 5 order executions per day.

Step 3: ask Cursor

Open the chat in Agent mode and try, for example:

  • «Use TraderWAI's get_ohlc to fetch the last 500 H1 candles of BTC/USDT, save them as a CSV in data/ and write a Python script that tests an EMA 20/50 crossover on them.»
  • «Call get_broker_accounts and get_positions and write a short report of my open Binance positions with the risk of each one.»
  • «If any open Binance position is at least 1R in profit, move its stop loss to break-even with modify_position. Show me the change before applying it.»
  • «Run backtest_strategy on BTC/USDT: buy on H1 when a candle closes above the previous day's high, stop below that candle, 2R target. Then turn the rules into a function in my project.»

How Cursor works with Binance

TraderWAI connects to Binance Spot with an API key that can trade but never withdraw, and exposes it to Cursor as an MCP server. Cursor can read what you hold, analyse BTC, ETH and other pairs and place buys whose stop loss and take profit Binance holds as a real OCO exit order, so they work even if TraderWAI or your AI are offline.

  1. In Binance go to Account → API Management and create a system-generated API key.
  2. Enable only «Spot & Margin Trading», never withdrawals, and restrict access to the trusted IP 187.7.69.7 (our European server).
  3. In TraderWAI go to Settings → Broker accounts → Add account → Binance and paste the API key and the secret key.
  4. Binance works on the free plan (beta). To practise first, choose Demo and create the key at testnet.binance.vision.

Example prompt for Cursor

«What do I hold on Binance and what is it worth? Then look at BTC/USDT on H4 and H1 and, if it holds support, prepare a buy of 0.01 BTC with a stop loss below it and a 2R take profit.»

Every order carries a stop loss, is checked against your risk limits and waits for your approval unless you turn on auto-execution for that symbol.

What Cursor can do with your Binance account

  • Read live charts in any timeframe, with the indicators you ask for.
  • Check your balance, open positions and pending orders.
  • Backtest a strategy idea on historical data before risking anything.
  • Prepare market, limit and stop orders with stop loss and take profit that you approve.
  • Leave conditional orders that TraderWAI watches every minute.
  • Respect your risk limits: maximum daily loss and drawdown, risk per trade, size and number of trades.

Questions

Can my own bot use the same data and account?

Inside Cursor, the Agent calls TraderWAI's tools while you work: it can save candles to files in your project and write and test code with them. For something that runs on its own, use TraderWAI's conditional orders, which are checked every minute even with Cursor closed, or connect your own agent to https://mcp.traderwai.com with an MCP client that supports OAuth. Every order goes through your risk limits.

Which TraderWAI tools can Cursor use?

All of them: get_ohlc, get_quote and get_chart for market data; get_broker_accounts, get_positions and get_account_info for your accounts; execute_trade, suggest_order, modify_position and close_position for orders; backtest_strategy for backtests and create_conditional_order for rules TraderWAI watches. Cursor asks before running a tool unless you allow it to run automatically.

Can TraderWAI or Cursor withdraw my crypto?

No. The key only has Spot & Margin Trading enabled, never withdrawals, and a key restricted to 187.7.69.7 is useless anywhere else. It is stored encrypted in a separate vault.

Does it support Binance Futures or short selling?

Not for now: Binance support is Spot only. You buy with the USDT or USDC you hold and sell what you hold, with no leverage. For perpetual futures (longs and shorts) you can connect Bybit.

How is the order size set on Binance?

In coins (for example 0.01 BTC), with the minimums of each pair. Binance's minimum order value is usually about 5 USDT.

Is it free to connect Cursor to Binance?

Yes. The free plan includes unlimited charts and analysis and 5 order executions per day.

Does Cursor place orders on its own?

Only if you want it to. By default every order needs your approval. You can also allow automatic execution for specific symbols, always within the risk limits you set.

Is my Binance account safe?

Your credentials are encrypted (AES-256) and the key is kept on a separate server. TraderWAI only acts on your account as you instruct and never requests withdrawal permissions.

Does it work with demo accounts?

Yes, with demo and live Binance accounts. We recommend starting with a demo.
