How to connect Cursor to your IG account

1. Add TraderWAI to Cursor

Works in Cursor (Agent).

In Cursor go to Settings → Tools & MCP → «Add new MCP server».
Or paste the configuration below into ~/.cursor/mcp.json.

2. Connect your IG account

In TraderWAI, add your IG account with the platform it uses:

IG with your AI, step by step

TraderWAI connects to IG through IG's MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 accounts, not through the IG web platform or the IG API. Once your IG MetaTrader account is connected, any AI with TraderWAI can use it: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok or Perplexity.

Add https://mcp.traderwai.com to your AI as a custom connector (MCP server).
Open an IG MetaTrader account from your IG account (availability depends on your IG entity); the MT4 ID and password arrive by email.
In TraderWAI go to Settings → Broker accounts → Add account → MetaTrader. For MT4 the server is IG-Live2 (live) or IG-DEMO (demo); otherwise type it exactly as MetaTrader shows it.
MetaTrader accounts are included in the Trader plan; charts and analysis are free on every plan.

Every order carries a stop loss, is checked against your risk limits and waits for your approval unless you turn on auto-execution for that symbol.

IG and TraderWAI: what to know

IG offers MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 alongside its own web platform and apps; availability depends on your IG entity. TraderWAI connects your IG MetaTrader account, not the IG web platform or the IG API.
To use MT4 with IG you need an IG account; your MT4 ID and password arrive by email.
IG's MT4 servers are IG-DEMO for demo accounts and IG-Live2 for live accounts.
IG MT4 demo accounts expire after 60 consecutive days without activity.

IG and Cursor: questions

Which IG login do I enter in TraderWAI?

The MetaTrader ID and password IG sends you by email for your MT4 or MT5 account, with its server. Your IG web platform login is not what TraderWAI uses.

My IG demo stopped working. Why?

IG MT4 demo accounts expire after 60 consecutive days without activity. Open a new demo, then add it again in TraderWAI.

Can I connect IG to Gemini?

Yes, if your IG account is on MetaTrader 4 or 5. Add TraderWAI as a custom app in Gemini (beta: Google AI Pro or Ultra, US, in English) and connect your IG MetaTrader account. Claude and ChatGPT work too, including their free plans.

Does TraderWAI use the IG API?

No. TraderWAI connects to IG through your MetaTrader 4 or 5 account (login, password and server), not through IG's REST API or web platform.
